Favorite yarn for amigurumi?

What’s your favorite yarn to use for amigurumi? Do you have a fiber content preference?

I accidentally donated my Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK collection with some weaving yarn last year and am trying to find a good substitute readily available in the US. I have some Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton yarn but it’s so slippery and I really don’t enjoy working with it. I have a large collection of Stylecraft Special DK 100% acrylic yarn for crocheting blankets but it seems a bit thin for amigurumi and I’m not sure about the fuzziness of the yarn for that purpose.

My favorite is Paton Grace mercerized cotton yarn. They used to have a lot of different colors at my local Michael’s, but now they only have limited colors like white, black, natural and light green I think. Most of the colors are available to buy online, but you need to buy them in bulk. It’s a light weight, not not too thin, doesn’t split easily and makes a nice tight stitch. It also has a nice sheen to it.

I’m interested for others to comment on this as well!
