First Hoodie!

I made my first hoodie and I’m super proud of how it came out! The pattern is Simplicity S9240 view B. I think the only modifications I made were to not add the kangaroo pocket (I love how it looks without!), no drawstring, and I added a second layer of topstitching around the cuffs and bottom. I used the lightening stitch on my machine to do all of the construction and serged everything.

Close up of the neck

For the next one I want to play around with the sleeve length, maybe take in the side seams an inch or so and raise the armhole about an inch, and tackle the kangaroo pocket.

Thanks for looking!

This looks so good! I would never guess this was your first hoodie. This looks quite cozy for around the house or out in public.
I’ve had ‘make a hoodie for myself’ on my to do list ever since I got a serger a couple Christmases ago. I can only hope mine will come out as nice as yours!

You should! Garments are so much easier than quilting imho. Especially stretchy knits!

You make me want to break out my sewing machine. Your hoodie came out sooooo nice and looks extra comfy and snuggly. Awesome job!

This hoodie turned out great! I love that you left off the drawstring… I usually pull them out. You have me thinking again, “I need to learn how to modify patterns.” I might use a hood on a hoodie if I had one that covered my big ol’ noggin.

It looks great! I think when it comes to sewing clothes, the fabric makes or breaks the whole look. Looks like you got some really nice quality fabrics. Your hoodie fits your style. And, now you can make more to suit whatever you want. I think a kangaroo pocket would be cute on a hoodie.
