Finished just in time for single digit temps today! ![]()
Pattern is the Flax Sweater by Tin Can Knits. It was my first top-down pattern and 2nd time doing German short rows…though these were much more involved than the like 2 rows in the Solstice Hug. They are definitely worth it though!
Yarn is upcycle alpaca from Knit Picks in Sage. I love the color but the yarn is a little itchy. I couldn’t wear it without a layer underneath. It’s VERY warm. ![]()
There are a few things I would do differently. I’d probably select a different yarn if I were making this again. I also inherited a set of square shortie needles and I’m struggling with the sizing. The square shape changes my tension and so the size is not a direct 1:1 comparison with the round needles I used for the body. It’s not terribly noticeable unless you have a sharp eye but I can tell that the garter stitch panels on the arms get a little bigger after I switched needles. And the arm cuffs could be tighter. I’ll probably invest in some larger diameter DPNs for future sleeves or suck it up and magic loop them.
Those points aside, I am overall very happy with this sweater and the fact that it’s not perfect just helps me be in the “it’s not precious” frame of mind when I wear it out!
I wore it all day yesterday and will probably end up wearing it again today. ![]()
