It’s all mixed media with bits of books, music books, stamps, magazines etc. then paint and markers and whatnot. I used flowers and leaves I found and pressed myself. The fairy’s clothes are all real vegetation. The wings are from a real dead cicada! I decorated the inside with vintage wrapping paper I’ve been saving. My intention is for it to be someone’s recipe book/book of shadows. Or maybe a large journal or sketch book. It’s for a craft show. I’m making a bunch of them from various thrifted binders and journals.
Question: the mod podge always ends up kinda sticky. Do you think I could use varnish over it and it would be less sticky? And if so would the spine still be flexible? Maybe I could just not varnish the flexible parts?

Wad up some wax paper and try rubbing it all over. I have also used a very fine sandpaper to degloss the stickiness.
This is such a cool upgrade to a 3-ring binder! I love the dreamy vibe of the collage.

I love how you took something utilitarian and made it artsy! It is pretty inside and outside! Makes me want to cover some of my art journals now. I have been putting off decorating them for months now.
Thank you! I was trying to match the vibes of the flowers.
@AIMR I just love functional art and I think everything should be pretty! I definitely recommend doing it. It’s so fun. My thoughts are that people can use it as a really pretty cookbook. I am currently making a few recipe pages that I’ll offer as well.
I’m told Mod Podge also makes a sealant spray to use as a final non-sticky layer (by a friend who used to sell mod-podged objects in the very humid south)-- I suspect any brand ought to work, tho.
