A friend of mine has been going through a really rough time: in and out of the hospital, scary sick with revolving diagnosis, away from her 3yo daughter. The sort of struggles you pray no-one has to deal with and yet they do.
It’s so easy to feel helpless because there is so little her other friends and I can do other than listen, pray, and hope things get better.
I put together a care package for my friend to try to do something nice for her and because I’d go out of mind otherwise. This gives me something positive to focus on. The centerpiece of the care package is this “For The Hard Days” box.
It was purposely left white so my friend and her daughter can decorate it togehter. Inside are 48 envelopes, each sealed with a gold heart and all mixed together.
Each is a surprise so she’ll never know what she’s getting when she reaches for one on the rough days.
There are 10 love notes from various friends. I formatted them in canva. (Text blurred for privacy)
Eight little art cards I painted and inked:
Nail stickers, glow-in-the-dark tattoos, regular stickers.
Jokes, puns, and a few print outs of funny memes.
Plus some truly random things like a gold face mask, some lemonade mocktail mix, a little flat ornament.
My intention is to refill her box with extra notes and surprises every few months.
Please excuse the terrible pictures.
