My daughter’s birthday is in the beginning of March, and March got a Friday 13 this year. As she loves spooky Halloween vibes, we decided to have a party for her on that date, with a bit of a spooky (but not too much) theme.
Got stuck for a long time trying to figure out what to make other than the mummy dogs that are well loved by my kid and her friends. But, poking around online filled in the blanks.
The party was at a friend’s house, and they are old enough to hang out unsupervised, so I just set up the table, chatted with the kids for a few minutes and left. My daughter reported that the entire thing was devoured in a few minutes.
The entire spread:
The classic mummy dogs (also in this picture are small pizzas that should have looked like eyes, but ended up just looking like small pizzas):
Spooky puff pastry tree. I love this idea, it’s super simple to make, makes an impressive presentation and is tasty, with pesto and cheese between the puff pastry layers:
Caprese skewers (the mozzarella balls were supposed to be carved to look like skulls, but we ran out of time):
Spider bread dip bowl (blurred because spider). This was really fun to make, the specific dough recipe I used was great to work with and it rose impressively (a bit too much even, as a pair of legs partially disappeared):
Deviled eggs:
Dirt cups:
Chocolate cake:
We’re already thinking about more themed party ideas, they are so much fun!
