I read somewhere that silicon beads made good sharp-point protectors, so i tried some on my embroidery scissors & laying tool! And knitting needle point protectors work on regular scissors, and for fun i put one on my seam ripper even tho it has a cover already. 
I amused myself by getting unicorn beads for my unicorn scissors. Now to find stork/crane beads …
