My public service announcement: if someone lives anywhere that it may be icy - even every couple of years and you can afford to get traction devices for your shoes, please do it! Of course, you still have to be careful on ice, but they make all the difference! [end announcement]
I’m fine. I wrapped my wrist when I got home. Thanfully I was bundled up like the Staypuff Marshmallow Man so I had decent padding for when I fell.
@TheMistressT - any you’d recommend? I’m definitely investing in a pair. Dallas always has at least one ice storm each year and my mom is old enough I need to be able to reach her.
I finished my cards yesterday and plan to get them out today - need to check to see if they’ll need additional postage (I’m thinking they will).
Fortunately, my town did a great job scraping the streets and my drive into work was great and non-slippery!
YakTrax are the known brand - in fact they are sort of a Kleenex situation, but there are other less costly ones. I got some at Costco this year. None that I have used would be tidy in a purse. We don’t usually have like, thick ice, unless things haven’t been plowed and it goes into a freeze-thaw cycle. If we did, I would go with something like the YakTrax Diamond Grip. Not cheap, but they were my go-to for years.
I second YakTrax. My parents bought them for me one year when I was in college. They came in a smallish square box. They were easy to take on and off. I believe I either donated them or gave them to a friend or family member when I moved out here. The ice in Iowa is nasty. I haven’t really experienced freezing rain here by Denver other than hail and if there is ice it isn’t hidden under a layer of snow, it’s plainly visible. I still worry every year about slipping and falling but
To be fair, I had mine done before signing up, just to make sure my idea would work. And it still took me a few days to send because I kept waiting for decent daylight to take pictures of my extra-small.
I was hoping to send out early, but I think I will be sending just in time. I signed up for 6 and is taking a bit longer than I had anticipated. Excited about what I came up with the smalls in each card. Hope my partners end up liking it.
I’m having technical difficulties… an extra small should not give me so much grief, yet here we are. I might just scrap these and do something else entirely.
I hand cut the main element for one of my cards and it took forever. So I dusted off my exacto knife and managed to cut three in about the same amount of time that it took me to cut the one. I’ll finesse the edges with the scissors, but thank goodness for my exacto knife!
I need to use the Silhouette to cut out my crafty item and am debating on opening up the new Silhouette I got for Christmas or using my old Silhouette. The problem with my old Silhouette is that the last time I attempted to do a print and cut, the machine acted up and ended up cutting right through my design. But if I use the new one, there may be some teething issues while getting used to the new cutter and I just don’t have time for that. But on the other hand, the new one is supposed to be even more precise when using the print and cut feature…
I’ll be out of town this weekend starting on Friday, so I need to have everything finished and ready to send by tomorrow.
I am finished with my craft, but I keep adding a little extra to it in between stepping away and coming back to it.
I’m currently addressing envelopes.
