Garden Themed Articulated Paper Doll

This is a Mother’s Day “Card Alternative” for my mom… I originally got this idea from Pinterest. I printed out a template for the body parts, cut them out, and then collaged on some printed out vintage seed ads. Shimmery transparent green paint went over that and then I attached everything to some heavier green paper for structure.

Her nose is a carrot and her lips are a tomato. Her hair and eyelashes are wool yarn, with a little silver paint in her hair because she’s aging.

Her roots are acrylic yarn.

All her joints are tiny paper fasteners (thanks to @irid3sc3nt who had some to give away at the presicely perfect moment!) I had to trim the ones at her elbows.

She has a hanger tab on the back of her hat.

She doesn’t look very comfortable with being folded up for travel…

So, she is now on her way to my mom in California. Thankfully my mom is goofy weird enough that this should totally brighten her day. I had a little fun with the packaging too…

And now I wait for her to make it safely to Mom’s house…

Yay! I’m glad that the brads worked just in time for your fun project. Ha, adding the silver paint gave me a giggle. If you know where to buy a gardening hat that large irl, send me a link because it is wonderfully gigantic and I cannot have sun on my face.

Hah! I suspect they’re only available in paper doll size… My mom has super fair skin so the humongous hat seemed appropriate.

Thank you!

Thank you!!

Oh! The silver paint - the first time I saw a couple really noticeable gray hairs looking in the mirror, I was just sure I had somehow gotten silver paint in my hair! For my mom and I, paint in our hair is usually pretty common.
