Gauge interest - swap a large

I love swaps, but most of them tend to smaller items. This totally makes sense, but I love a bigger project I can really dig into. Would anyone be interested in a bigger item swap? I’m thinking “Labor of Love” - make and send a single Large/XL. Could be pairs or a round robin. Nice long craft time - a few months at least, with just check-ins. I’d be happy to organize.

Thoughts?

I would normally be up for this, but I’ve got a lot going on the next couple months. I would love to see some larger swaps on LC in general though.

Yess! I miss large swaps. We used to go all out on Craftster. I get that the economy being tanked is the reason why most of us can’t though.

I think this would be a great idea. A lot are smaller lately because that is what gets the most traction. I’d love to see bigger swaps again!
Not everyone checks the New Ideas Board, so whenever you are ready to start it, go ahead. Then PM the @swapmods and we can give you access to the spreadsheet and assign you a swap mod.

I love this idea! I would definitely be interested. I do love a bigger swap.

Partnering could be tough unless people have a pretty good list of larger items, however. Maybe they could give at least 5 examples since it will all depend on someone’s abilities/skills to craft the item.

Here are the example items listed on the swap guidelines:

  • Large – 4+ hours – amigurumi (over 6”), intricate scarf, intricate hoopla, art quilt.
  • Extra Large – 5+ hours – Purse, shawl, blanket, lap quilt, woven towel.

Other ideas I can think of: knit socks, quilted pillow cover set, clay figurines?

Can anyone else think of any others?

I think a lot of wall art would fall into this category. Probably most clothing. Decent size toys. Or sets of things - set of placemats, jewelry sets. Handbound books. Custom designed pieces. Sculpture, carvings…
