Giant Crayon

So this project takes some explaining…

The big boss has a thing about using your “gray crayon” in situations you can - not being so black and white, being flexible about some things (obviously within reason).

So for his birthday I made him a giant gray crayon.

I didn’t get a lot of pictures of creating it, but I can explain what I did…

The main barrel is a round shipping tube, painted using some stencils and just acrylic paint.

The top… it’s a styrofoam cone covered in craft felt. I sewed the felt on, because I know that styrofoam is tough to glue (it melts!). And I mixed my paint to be close to the felt color. It’s hilarious and it’s up in our temporary office space (ask me how fun working in a call center type building is… only two more months and the office remodel will be done!)

What a fun and very personalized gift! That was a smart idea to sew the felt onto the tip. I’ll have to keep that in mind for future crafts. You did a gray-t job on this.
