Granny Square Pillow

I finally finished a project I’ve been working on for about a month as a present for my parents’ 50th anniversary: this colorful granny square pillow! It’s on a 12x12" pillow insert. I basically just picked a bunch of colors I liked and that I thought would go with their family room and threw them together. I think next time I’ll try to learn a join-as-you-go technique, because sewing all these little squares together took about as much time as it did to crochet them all in the first place! I will say though that I’m impressed at how well the invisible joining stitch works; you really can’t see the dark green yarn I used to join them between the squares in most places!

Here’s the front:

And here’s the back:

This looks great!! I love that either side could be the front, really.

I’ve wanted to make one of these! The one that I saw was more of a cylindrical bolster shape. This looks snuggly. Definitely a great pillow to rest your arm on while reading (then eventually take a nap on).

I’m a sucker for a granny square anything and your colorway is wonderful.

Thanks! It’s a mostly-cotton blend: Scheepjes stone washed and river washed yarns.

It’s really pretty! Such a lovely palette, as well. I love that it’s double-sided.
