I made this for @irid3sc3nt in the 2025 Winter Book swap.
It took me so long to decide on this project because I had so many other things going on - a lot of OT at work, a horrible flu, and then a more serious illness rearing its nasty head. I finally stopped fighting it and went for something I do a lot, rather than trying something new, which had been my hope.
Going through my drawers of miniature-related goodies I came upon what was originally intended to be a garden bench, I think. I realized that a little tweaking would turn it into a plant lover’s bookshelf.
I have a lot of miniature wallpapers that I’ve printed for past projects but changed my mind about. I know @irid3sc3nt likes pink so this one seemed like a great choice and I covered some card stock to make the back.
I added a cupboard and drawer and then painted everything.
Beads became plant pots and tiny leaves clipped from other fake plants became the greenery. I added some polymer clay floral nail charms for blooms. I already had some books I’d made for previous projects, which worked great here.
And voila- just like that, Greenthumb’s bookshelf was born.
The flu is in the rear view and hopefully it stays there because what’s on my plate now is more likely to affect me in the long term.
Let me just say this in caution to anyone who reads this: when you’re given a prescription, thoroughly read that little insert that talks about side effects and contraindications. No matter how much you like your doctor, they are still human and can prescribe something that you didn’t know you shouldn’t be taking. Protect yourselves.
