Hand-painted Glass Pendant

I’m not sure what I’m going to use this for yet, but I decided to paint one of our kinda invasive species: the gold dust day gecko.

I’ve had these little two-sided glass pendants with a hinge for a while, and only have ever used them to sandwich a little watercolor or something in between. I just recently realized it might be fun to paint both pieces if glads to create a tiny bit of depth/dimension.

The outline of the gecko is india ink, and the rest is fluorescent acrylic paint. All of the media is on the inside, so it should be relatively safe, but I still might try to figure out some clear coat or some other way to protect it further.

It was kinda fun to paint because I had to think backwards, like old-school animation, and paint the things on “top” first and work my way to the bigger “back” layers.

And the back is simple and fun too.

Thanks for looking!

Cute and so brightly cheerful!

If you’re going to be invasive, at least you should be cute, right? So adorable!

I get what you mean about thinking backwards. I once did some cake transfers that used a similar technique. I kept peeking underneath to make sure it looked okay as I added the layers.
