Help! Cricut not cutting all the way through vinyl

Hi everyone, I’m pretty new to Cricut and I’m having an issue I can’t figure out. My machine is cutting the design, but it’s not going all the way through the vinyl, some parts weed fine and others tear. I’ve tried changing the pressure and reloading the mat, but it’s still inconsistent.

Any tips or settings I should check? Thanks in advance

That’s so disappointing! I mostly cut paper, so can’t offer direct help, but might suggest you ask Reddit, if you don’t find an answer here.

Is the blade sharp and clean? Even a tiny gook on the blade will make cutting rough on paper and vinyl.

I’ve had issues like that. Usually I’ve had issues with fine details or if it goes to a smaller point. It doesn’t cut all the way through.

When I get towards certain edges I start going slower and if I see it lift like it’s connected I push on the part I want to stay stuck down where it seems to be connected, then I pull up slowly on the piece I’m removing to break the connection.

As @AIMR said the blade can get gunk on it and you may have to clean it sometimes. Also I know they say to sharpen the blade use a tinfoil ball and poke into it a few times. There may be another way, but that’s how I it… but I’ll be honest and say I do everything wrong… sooooo… :man_shrugging:

Also sorry for any bad spelling or typing.

I would try cleaning the blade in a ball of foil. Just make a small ball of foil packed really tightly together. Then stab your blade violently into it a few times. Sometimes there’s a little smudge or something on the blade that is causing all sorts of chaos.

That is the only method I know as well unless you use a new blade.
