These are the 1st hidden paperclips that I’ve ever made. I followed Lolly Palooza’s tute, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CS4nb6a4rDI, but hers are measured. I’ll be making my own un-measured versions.
I rounded the corners of one and didn’t on the other to see what I liked the best. Both are attractive, depending on the project.
I love adding flat, metallic sequins and rhinestones to my projects. I distressed the edges with coordinating inks after I made them. Next time I may do it before. Would be easier without the embellishments.
I used authentic fortune cookie quote strips for my messages and outlined them with gel pens.
I embellished the backs also, which can be used by turning them around, facing out. I used one of my hand-painted hearts paper designs on the back of the pink one.
This is how they look not slipped on a page. You can see that the front piece is shorter than the backside piece. This makes it easier to slip them on. You can also make them with the front and back the same length.
Sideways, you can see the gap between the front and back that allows them to be slipped onto a page.
I used craft paper and basic white glue, which slightly warped them. I like it though, because they have character. It also caused the paperclip shapes to show through, especially on the back. If you don’t like this, you should use heavyweight craft paper or cardstock prints or solids.
I’m happy with how they turned out. Excited about making more, especially shorter, wider ones. They allow for more collage embellishing.
