Hmmm… I don’t really want a hose running across my porch forever… Especially draped over multiple planters… it’s not an occasional thing, that I don’t have time to water plants. It’s that I never have time, but I like the look of flowers growing in pots in my porch.

I have not investigated, but the people I’ve heard talk about it seemed to imply that there are now modern alternatives with timers and hoses that don’t just look like a garden hose draped over stuff. :woman_shrugging:

Your solution is definitely more of a year-round one, tho!

Tomorrow we hope to get the attic ladder / stairs in!!! And get the last bits and bobs of the floor finished, and the baseboards ordered. It’s been hard to find untreated wood baseboards that aren’t plain flat on top. I want a nice design, but I also want untreated wood (not laminate or wood painted white) because I want them to match the floor. Plus maybe get the guest bed up to the attic.

My MIL would go out and “water” her hanging plants and pretend to dead head (pick out leaves and spiderwebs). She took them down in the fall. The neighbors complemented her each year on her beautiful flowering baskets. We enjoyed the laugh.

I drive by this house several times a week where the owner has a slope that meets the very busy street. They have put obviously fake flowers (think corsage bouquets…) and spaced them out in almost a memorial garden fashion (a grid). It is so tacky that is is fabulous! No maintenance (except once in a while, the wind might grab one) and they obviously enjoy doing it.

I have mixed real plants with artificial ones to fill out a pot or basket because I am also bad on watering and caring for plants.

My grandma absolutely loathed gardening, but she felt not having flowers in front of her house was tacky and plastic was even worse. So she planted lavender. At least in my climate, lavender doesn’t typically need any watering at all, especially when it’s in the ground instead of potted. In September you cut the plant down using kitchen scissors and you just wait until it starts growing again in spring. I actually love the smell of lavender, as I’m typing this I’m thinking, hmm, why don’t I have that?

Neat!

We do have a few lavender plants, that are in a in-ground “planter”. It’s not covered by a roof, so it gets watered naturally when it rains. I just feel like pots of flowers on the porch says “someone who cares lives here”.

You’re ahead of me! I couldn’t even take care of faux plants! Mine would end up thickly coated in dust from the forest and road in a matter of a couple of weeks and would only get more so.

A broken downspout caused some wet, we pulled up the floor.

Ergh, basement concrete is so yucky.

Now my overly enthusiastic hubby who did not even want to do this job decided we should uncover both windows, omg.

First we’ll need a trip to the dump.

That’s how it works, one mess leads to more mess. It doesn’t look like it now but you are making progress! Did you get the situation with the hole in your building resolved?

Yesterday, this one was put in! I was really sick but I didn’t want to cancel and it only took about an hour.

I forgot, so where does the stairs lead to? Is it a storage area or a finished space? And, wow…that color looks beautiful with your floor!

My husband finally felt good enough to go look at refrigerators. Since he does most of the shopping and cooking, it’s important that everything functions the way he wants. We had a bit of an issue when we moved because our previous two homes had huge refrigerators.

Our current home as a space built to put in the fridge…and it is dating from the 1980’s when they were much smaller with less features. We got estimates to take out the cabinet and side panel…a little over $2,000! But, thanks to my internet sleuthing, I found one that fits AND my husband liked it! It was on sale as well with free delivery, installation, and moving the old fridge to the garage! I feel like I saved not only on the construction but also the cost of a bigger fridge! WOOHOO! Delivery on Thursday!

Double good news…the driveway people are in the area tomorrow so they are going to do our driveway first thing. By tomorrow night, my driveway will be nearly doubled in sized! After the not so great past couple of years, I think @Tapestry 's kind gift of sage to clear out bad juju is working! ha ha

There’s a pipe on order to fix the furnace mishap.
@Immaculata that is a great colour and the ladder looks very cool. It angles out for use?
What are the 2 black dots on the wall? Those are by your window too, I think.

We finally got the pull-out couch bed moved, the space feels very cosy.

You sure warmed up that space! It does feel quite cozy and welcoming! Those windows let in a lot of light. I am a sucker for that style of rug as well…lots of pattern and colors so you can mix in a lot of accessories.
