Homegrown Tentacle Vines

I got suckered right into some cheap import plastic vines and resin tentacle picks! Of course the vines showed up smaller/less full than expected and even though I ordered enough to use in the two tall pots on the deck now full of nearly-dead annuals. So I picked up some 50%-off florals at Michael’s and there still wasn’t enough to truly fill even one.

So I dug around in the pots left in the “greenhouse” by the last owners and found this concrete cutie! It still had dirt and dead plants in it, so for now the things are just stuck in there. Maybe later I’ll replace that with some floral foam. Or plant real things in there next year.

The tentacles came with too-short picks, so I replaced them with bamboo skewers (not photographed). The firt one pulled right out with pliers, but most of the rest had to be drilled out.

If we get a run of dry days, I’ll set this on the deck conversation set’s table. For now it sits on this cabinet that stores deck stuff.

Now that’s creepy and so good! Love the color mix. Looks like a regular fall floral display until…yikes, up close!

Thanks! Sometimes I like a little bit of a sneak attack!

This is fabulous! Where did you get the tentacles? I think I might need some of these.

It looks so good! I definitely want to make something like that!!!

I love it!

Thanks, everyone!

@Bunny1kenobi They came from Temu and they come in a few different colors. Some of the images made them seem like they glow or light up, but they don’t. And the description didn’t say that they would.

Awww, thanks!

The color of the flowers is a great pairing with those tentacles. Deliciously subtle.

I, too, have fallen victim to the online flowers. I could use another two sets, but for now they look pretty good. I purchased some 4-5" balloon dogs from the At Home store and hid them in the pots so if someone at the door happens to glance over, they’ll see a little surprise.

Thanks! I also love a little surprise here and there around the house. I have painted the sides of the drawers in one of our bathrooms a lilac color just for a little something secretly extra.
