How to draft a cover for my air compressor

I recently got an airbrush and want to leave the compressor plugged in next to my easel but covered when not in use. How would I go about drafting a pattern for the cover? I’d like something a bit more form fitting than a large rectangle covering it and not have a ton of extra fabric that can get caught up but it doesn’t have to be completely snug. Any tips?

Ooh, OOH, I know! I know! Do it with TAPE!
Check out this tutorial for drafting any shape with tape!
You can go as detailed or as simple as you like, just stuff something around any wonky spaces you don’t need to have a perfect fit for. Test by cutting the pattern out of paper with NO seam allowances and taping it together, taping right along the edges. This will help you figure out if there should be notches anywhere to indicate where curves should match up, etc. You can add elastic or drawstring to any place you want to cinch in as well, and a velcro closure around cords, etc.
Making sense?

Definitely try the duct tape method! Wrap the air compressor in plastic wrap or a plastic bag and tape away!

If you don’t want to sew something, an inverted basket might work.
