How to seal polystyrene bucket

Good day. I bought a used bait bucket which has a polystyrene liner inside. Soaking the bucket overnight, I discovered that liner leaks, it let out half the water overnight and popped out of plastic bucket by itself.

Anyway, filling the liner with water shows some leaks and they are all over, not just a single place. Little bit here, little bit there. I’m thinking of spraying it from inside with 3M 77 spray adhesive. Could you think of something else that can be sprayed to take care of leaks?

I have seen a spray that is specifically for leaks. Search “spray on leak sealer” and you’ll find a couple of pretty affordable options.

Isn’t the liner just to insulate the water to keep bait/fish alive in cold/hot weather? I have never seen a bait bucket that didn’t leak. But, if you are planning it for something else, a quick search shows polyurethane works best. Be sure to check that whatever you use won’t dissolve the polystyrene. I was going to recommend Flex Seal but I think it dissolves foam. I used it on a plastic sink and it was great but the label warns against softer surfaces.
