Hydrangea Hair Pin & Brooch

Chugging along with the summer pieces, here’s some hydrangeas. A hair pin and a brooch.

I used a watercolor dye technique to create the smooth gradiation between the colors in these petals.

The hair pin was backed with chiyogami paper and mounted on a silver tone u-pin. I also coated the foam half-sphere with silver leaf, because I think the raw white foam is kind of unattractive.

This hydrangea is made in a similar fashion - but different colorway - and has a brooch back instead of being mounted on a hair pin.
