I finally finished Dreaming in Color! I posted part of it here a while ago, and it feels like I’ve been working on it forever. I did a little bit most days, so it slowly came together.
I’m really happy with how colorful it turned out. There’s so much going on in the picture, and I love how the bright pinks, blues and yellows look against the black background.
I do wish it had a few special-shaped drills, though. I think they would have looked really nice in the wings or some of the smaller glowing details.
It has both AB and neon drills. I like the AB drills, but honestly, the neon ones don’t look that different from regular drills to me once they’re on the canvas. I still prefer AB and pearlescent drills because you can actually see the extra effect when the light hits them.
Anyway, I’m glad this one is finally done. It took a long time, but I really like the finished result!
Oh my word, that looks like so much work. Hours and hours of careful concentration! The finished product reminds me of those colour-by-number velvet posters from when I was a kid. I could never finish one, no matter how hard I tried. Colour me impressed!
Thank you! It definitely took a long time—probably over 50 hours altogether. I do a little diamond painting almost every day though, so it didn’t feel too bad.
It’s actually still sitting in storage. I love doing diamond paintings, but I never really know what to do with them once they’re finished, and I’m not a big fan of framing them. I mostly just enjoy the process and seeing how they turn out in the end.
Haha, I used to be exactly the same! I’d start something, get halfway through, and then leave it unfinished forever. A friend started doing diamond painting with me, and that made a huge difference. We’d chat while we worked, and somehow it slowly became a daily habit. Now I just do a little at a time and try not to think about how much is left!
