Improv-Scrappy Double Pointed Needle Roll

I made this for a craft-worthy friend here on LC. I’ve been lucky enough to be on the receiving end of her gorgeous knits, so when she expressed needing a DPN roll, I offered to make one for her! An embarrassing amount of time later, it’s done!

I played around with some scrappy piecing for the center section of the roll, just grabbing scraps and assembling them, squaring off pieces when they got big enough, and then attaching them to each other. It was pretty fun and meditative and I definitely see myself doing this periodically to attempt to clear out the scrap pile.

I made a large enough pieced panel for one of the inside pockets, too.

Here’s a pic with some “stuff” inside. My needles fit so nicely I realized I need one of these babies, too!

I used this tutorial for some measurements, etc., but made it a roll rather than a case.

There are definitely Abbee-style wonky spots, but luckily, the recipient is familiar with my imperfectness, lol. Thanks for looking!

I LOVE this. Your scrappy style is top-notch, and now my DPNs have an actual home. It was worth the wait

Gorgeous and charming! If I had this (and also knit), I would probably find excuses just to unroll and reroll it.

I love all the funky shapes and patterns of the fabrics you chose. Especially alongside the black and polka dot backgrounds. Super cool and functional piece!
