so I have a set of interchangable needles that are likely close to 2 decades old now (I use them constantly to the point I am starting to lose many of the pieces). I think they are from knitpicks (lime green case). Does anyone know how I can find out if they are compatible with current sets or even how to best identify the brand etc.

I don’t know anything about knitting needles, but I have had some luck finding info about things by using Google Lens.
I have lost one or two from a set and purchased another pair and can use them interchangeably. I have several sets and “spares” from knitpicks…some probably go back over 20 years. The only thing I have to watch for is that I also have Knit Picks square needles…you can’t mix and match those or else your knitting is weird, but they all use the same wires and keys.
I also have Knitters Pride and a few Addi sets.
