To my mind, @Rlynn is the undisputed master of Shrinky Dink creations. I bow to her.
Inspired by the gorgeous cat brooch she made me for the brooch swap, I ordered some Shrinky Dinks to try myself.
As with so many things in life, while the concept seems simple, the execution is full of surprises. It turns out, there are a lot of variables.
My most successful result, I think, was this pair of half-hoop earrings. (If half-hoop earrings are not a thing, consider them a new invention ) I intended for them to be bracelets (silly me!) but of course they were way too small after shrinking so now they are earrings.
Looks like a lot of fun, experimenting with Shrinky Dinks. How do you get it to curve into half-hoops? It’s been a long time since I’ve done any, but I feel like they just always end up completely flat.
In the few seconds after you take them out of the oven, while they’re still hot, you can quickly wrap them around something to shape them–or you could probably try other shapes. Like, if I had known they were going to be earrings, I might have made spirals or something . In fact, that’s giving me some ideas . . .
I’ve been MIA because my goodness, preparing to drop your only child off at college is emotionally and physically exhausting, but I had to come check out your shrinkie creations. This is so delightful and fun. I love how bright the earrings are!!!
