I made this ATC for @stitchandstones in the playing card swap. It was based on an image I found on her Pinterest and it was a fun challenge! I respect playing card art a whole lot more now. 
This is Anubis, holding the feather of Maat, which embodied truth and balance, and against which the heart of a deceased person would be weighed. If that person’s heart was heavier than the feather, it would signify that the heart was weighed down by guilt and evil deeds. It would be eaten by Ammit, a creature with the head of a crocodile, the front body of a lion, and the back legs of a hippopotamus. (Yikes.) This would destroy the soul of the deceased. But, if the heart’s weight was equal to or less than that of the feather, Ammit would go without a meal and the deceased would pass into eternal life. Anubis was the god who judged and oversaw this process. The ankh (under the “J”) is a symbol for eternal life.
The trimming on the card got a bit wonky somehow but apart from that, I really like how this turned out.
