Jackalope Painting Time

I made this postcard for @HeroicHatchling as part of summer Nerd Games postcard club. @LovelyMiss sent participants an awesome box of goodies for camp this summer, including a stack of fun stickers. I decided each of my Nerd Games postcards this summer will incorporate one of the stickers and what better way to start than with Bigfoot.

Why I decided that bigfoot should be painted by a jackalope I have no idea, but I love the end result.

Process pics:

I started by sketching the jackalope and easel on mixed media paper.

Next I inked both and added color with watercolor and colored pencil. Then I cut the pieces out and glued them in place on the postcard around the sticker. Finally, I added some shadows to ground things and gave the sticker a border so it fits with the rest of the elements.

I love how creative this is! What a perfect way to use that sticker and what a perfect sticker for this project. My Bigfoot sticker is different from yours, and it wouldn’t have worked nearly as well. It makes me so happy that you got this sticker because it was clearly meant to become this piece of art.
