Jewel Beetle Art

What do you do with a small rectangle of wood?

I’ve been planning and fretting over getting the kid ready for college. Mostly just fretting silently because he’ll be fine but I hate change and there is going to be a giant @Jae3ird sized hole in my day to day life in less than a week.

Anyhow, I decided to paint a jewel beetle on it and then because I didn’t center the beetle, I wrapped some rusty around the top and affixed the sea glass for color. Jewel beetles are forest dwellers but if the forest is near an ocean then you could theoretically see a jewel beetle near the ocean. So yes, thats what I’m going with.

The beetle is slightly off center but I’m going to pretend it doesnt annoy me.

Even off center the beetle looks awesome! Congratulations on starting college @Jae3ird :tada:

Having the kids grow up and move out is such an adventure for them and such a bittersweet heartbreak for us.

Your beetle looks great! Don’t let the off centered-ness bother you too much. I suspect there are a few things that feel off center to you right now. Maybe it’s just synchronicity. :slightly_smiling_face:

Your beetle looks great! I imagine a real beetle would totally disregard silly human’s impulse for being centered.

Beetles never just stay precisely where you put them.

:people_hugging: re: the college thing! (I say, taking a moment to NOT PANIC about that when my kid is still a year out from high school…)

The beetle looks great. i think the wire wrapping is cool.

The beetle is very cool!

It being off centre just makes it a bit more realistic, like it’s resting there
