Journal cover

Scrappy fabric cover made for @imera for Positive Affirmations R-5 swap.
Checking out her themes I came away with ideas for tiny houses, embroidery, nature, quilting. I wasn’t sure where I was going with this but after rummaging scraps to build this little scene I ended up machine quilting in a criss-cross pattern to secure it all in place.

The back cover has a flap that can hold an 8"X5" journal or book.

The affirmation I chose from her list is: “Expect Nothing, Appreciate Everything”, it’s a good one.

The folio is machine stitched pages with a ribbon bookmark, the cover is from an old hanging folder from my office that I took when we retired a few large metal filing cabinets. We are still not 100% paper-free but certainly less than years past and there were dozens of those folders. The paper is really excellent quality hard card.

And the full scene with the cover unfolded. I considered something else on the back but sort of liked the landscape of the colours on their own.

I hope it will prove useful and be enjoyed.

Thanks all! Whenever I put wunderunder onto fabric I’m going to fussy cut, I save the unused pieces and use them for other projects. Most of the fabric for this was from that stash, some I did not even trim to use (like the grassy landscape bits). There are shapes that you would never think to cut out and they are so fun to play with and build a scene.

So sweet and cheerful! It is simply marvelous.
