After I started my deliveries today, I suddenly started feeling pretty good…Still very sore, and the dizziness was a bit irksome, but I felt pretty darn good. So as soon as I got home, I oiled my sewing machine and quickly threw this together, heh. I like it. The gals at Starbucks are going to get a hell of a kick out of it when I DoorDash in it, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
One thing I do really really really need to learn, is other types of fabrics……Cotton strikes me that it is not a good choice for skirts. . Meh, it’ll still be fun for a while, heh.
It looks good! Why do you feel cotton isn’t a grrat fabric for skirts? Or is it a thinner type of cotton that might wear out quickly? I wear cotton dresses and skirts all the time when I’m not at work - easy to wash and doesn’t get damaged easily. I never understood why so many people wear pants. I sometimes wear them at work and I wear them for exercise, but they feel very restrictive to me. They limit my movement.
It may be just how my shirts come out. They seem a bit… …Rougher. especially around the collar and edges. However, I just looked at a couple of my manufactured shirts, and one is 100% cotton and feels exactly the same as the 100% rayon one. Maybe it’s because I no longer have a washing machine on hand to use so the shrinkage makes it seem rougher. I don’t know.
Welp, it looks like I may have a task. My eldest niece asked if I’d make her daughter a dress. While thinking about it, I have those tunic patterns that I had purchased a few years back, and all my niece has to do is give me a shirt that her daughter can fit into and I’ll be able to make the dress to her measurements easily. I have learned so much that I can modify any of the tunic patterns easily into a dress. I will need to learn how to do elastic waists ( That’s the one thing I botched really badly with this skirt, heh! Well, botched is the wrong word. I knew it wasn’t correct, it was quickly put together making sure the seams were good over the waistline which I haven’t studied yet).
Although, I could simplify the waistline with a…with a??? Belt strap? It would be trivial to flare out the tunics at the waist line. I could have my niece put a couple of safety pins at the waist of the shirt she’d give me for measuring, and I could use their location for flaring the shirt out.
Which reminds me, I need to go over my sewing machine, as it’s making a little bit of an odd sound. I may have bent the needle while making the bags when I followed the video by sewing through the zipper rather than sewing around it. (Even though they’re plastic, I can’t see a needle being forced through that not gaining some damage…Which reminds me, I need to change how I sew those).
Alrighty! That works. After watching a couple vids on sewing an elastic band, and while it was very slow going today, I had finagled the elastic within the skirt and using the needles, I was able to straighten it all out and sew in a couple of loines (That was a misspelling, but I like it, ). Anyway, now it looks like a good, nice skirt, .

Too funny!!
Cotton is fantastic for skirts, I used it for all my skirts and dresses when I used to sew my own clothes. My hubby’s shirts too, all he buys are cotton now.
Anyway, got my glasses in, and I now understand why they asked if I wanted trifocals, . Close up and far away, the bifocals are fine (except when it comes to stairs, ). However, my computer screens are way too blurry, O_o. Oof!
Anyway, having a little fun as it has been a rough day.
