Kiddo birthday cupcakes

My wonderful nephew and niece both have summer birthdays so I got to make two rounds of cupcakes last month.

Nephew’s request was chocolate and puppy themed. So he got chocolate cupcakes with chocolate and vanilla frosting made into puppy faces with pink fondant tongues.

A couple face close-ups.

Niece wanted strawberry and turtle themed. I didn’t want to have to drown the frosting in food coloring, so I made macarons to be the shell. She got vanilla cupcakes with chunks of stawberry with fresh strawberry fristing, vanilla macaron tops, and fondant turtle parts. Plus a couple turtle macarons for my gluten-free mom.

I find the turtle parts in waiting very funny.

Both were big hits!

Lucky neeflings! They are both adorable and sound delicious. Using macarons for turtle shells in a great solution! I would also like to suggest “Fondant Turtle Parts” as a title to a chapbook or similar.
