Hello! One of my goals this year was to switch up my crafting a bit and try some things I have never done before. I got a kit for Kinsugi and gave it a whirl. It was harder than I thought.
This isn’t actual gold, but epoxy. It was hard to get just the right amount. It was either not enough, so no gold showed, or overflowing.
I have some more, so I am going to try again on a pot that broke. I love the pot, so fingers crossed that I can save it.
That’s so cool! Even if your first attempt didn’t come out as you wanted, it gave you practice before you tackle the pot that you love. Well done.
I agree with @MistressJennie about getting some good practice before working on a loved piece. I’ve been fascinated by kintsugi, but intimidated.
I feel the same way as @TheMistressT, very intimidated by the whole process. Admiring your bravery, @gozer! Hoping eventually you might be able to de-mystify the techniques for the rest of us, and maybe help us all feel more comfortable giving it a try.
Nice job!! I have a mug from a friend that arrived to me broken a few years ago and I’ve always hopef to learn kintsugi to repair it, but I’m scared to try it!

So cool. I’ve watched a video on NHK about this repair technique. It was amazing to see what the artisans did with the pottery.
It said it was all about patience, and they were NOT joking. Just doing this drove me crazy.
