Kitty Tablet Zipper Bag

My first zipper addition to a sewing project, and it’s not too shabby, :grinning_cat: .

I used both these videos for making this. I was actually going to make the laptop bag first, but I thought it might be a bit much for me at the moment trying to do the decorative sewing for the front and back. So I decided on the tablet bag as I wouldn’t need to worry about the quilt batting being too loose if I weren’t to do the extra stitching on the front.

Also, there is one quirk I do need to figure out on my sewing machine. I did have the foot pressure way too loose, but at the same time it was a tad too tight,. That will take some time to learn the appropriate adjustments for it.

And lastly, I tried. I really tried to hide the inner sleeve’s stitches. I just couldn’t do it and gave in and just sewn a seam on the bottom of the inner piece. Meh, no one would see it anyway, heh.

Grr! I didn’t get the front pocket as lined up as I had hoped. Before sewing it, it was perfect, heh. Probably pulled a little too hard on the bottom of the pocket as I was sewing around. Meh, it’s close enough.

Since I messed up on the pocket (I didn’t realize I needed to shorten it, ). Anyway, what I did to counter that, I had picked just the top edges of the pocket and pinned them back while I worked around the zipper. Then those edges would get sewn up during the final sewing.

This looks great! I love the cats fabric

If you have a problem with the lining fabric showing try understitching the lining. It will make a big difference.

Edit. Sorry I misread about the lining :face_with_hand_over_mouth: Language barrier

Of course your first time zipper project isn’t going to be simple, you’re going to add a nice pocket too! It looks good, the fabric reminds me a bit of Lisa Frank.

I love the cat fabric and your fussing cutting was great. Its hard to get it exact. I love the pocket on the front of the bag. Great job!

That looks great! :cat:

This turned out very cute!

Ok! Trying out a handle. First attempt: Having no clue what I’m doing,.

since this is just a test, I’m not overly worried that I got the width wrong. I’ll have to watch some vids to get it to look better at the seam, which I went back and forth three times.. Meh, a first attempt without any knowledge, it’s not too bad, heh.

Update: Got it, How to Make a Lanyard in 10 minutes (And ironically enough, I was on the right path, I just didn’t know it, heh).

Update 2

Ok! This looks better. I think I may want to do some decrative stitching, though., which one to use? Hmmmmmm???
