This little knitted friend was finished on Christmas day after sewing and stuffing all the parts on Christmas eve. It was knitted flat so there was a lot of seaming needed. Luckily I did the side seams on arms and legs directly after knitting them so I just had to stuff and attach.
I think it looks lovely on my mother in laws windowsill so there’s where I left him. ![]()
The pattern is from this book, and I got most of the parts knitted in maybe half a day, and then worked slowly on it on coffe breaks at work. The last ear was done on Christmas eve. I enjoy making small critters and dolls, but it was my first time using a pattern knitted flat. Even the tiny ears are knitted, decreased, increased again.. and finally folded and sewn up. It’s too bad I didn’t photograph the parts, because they looked all shrivelled up, and nothing like the finished bear! I think the ears are the only part I might change if I did this again. A bit too fiddly and difficult to sew up in my opinion.
The scarf is just icord over three stitches, but that red wool was too perfect not to use in some way. The body is made in a varigated grey wool yarn, but the varigation is slow so I don’t really think it shows that the ears and limbs are a smidge lighter than the body. I embroidered a simple face, but small safety eyes would probably work too.
