Koki'o Bud Vases

I love these little koki’o bud vases I just finished!
Just in case anyone is curious, these are high fire porcelain. The insides are glazed, but the sgraffito outside is just bare underglaze. (Not all underglazes survive the high fire; you’d have to do your own testing with your setup to make sure the colors don’t burn off.)

Beautiful! I love the matte effect of the glaze. Is that because of the high fire?

Thanks so much for your kind words, everyone!! 🩵

@Abbeeroad, the matte colors are actually just underglazes without any clear glaze over them.

*in case anyone also needs this info, underglaze is basically colored slip you can use like paint on greenware or bisqueware.

slip = liquid(ish) clay
greenware = before any firing
bisque = after a first (lower temperature) firing, clay is sintered, so it’s solid, but still very porous.
