Lace up jeans

I’ve always wanted a pair of jeans that lace up the sides, and after lacing the waist together (super strange split waistband that looked terrible), I figured why not keep going? In the end, each leg was 60 eyelets, and then 32 for the waist.

I have the sides laced differently than the top, and I think I’ll keep it that way, at least for now. It’s a little sturdier that way.

Using a seam ripper up the sides was fun!

I might get different cord, something a little thicker, but for now, they work! Thanks for looking!

Wow–customized jeans! Did you have a special tool that you used to set the grommets? I have something that was intended for grommets but have never been able to figure out how it works! It was hand held, so I imagine it takes some muscle to make all the ones you did! Great job!

I love how cyclical fashion is. This reminds me of a pair I had, and loved, in the 90s. Very cool custom!

Yes! It looks like a set of pliers! It’s super easy to use, not much more effort than a stapler. The only trick is knowing which side is ‘up’ and ‘down’ in relation to the grommet pieces. I did a test on some paper for that.

Yes, it reminds me so much of a pair my highschool friend had. I wasn’t allowed them, my mum thought they were tacky! That I remember them in 2026 shows how much I wanted them!

Really cool and thanks for the idea! I might borrow it.

Neat!! Totally my style if I wore jeans. It looks really good!
Omg in early 2000s I had some pretty scandalous-looking lace-up bell-bottoms but with brown suede lacing. I say scandalous because it showed a lot of skin and I was 13. That seems a little much to me now for being 13. :joy: But the other kids were wearing much more provacative clothing than I was; “Juicy” sweatpants with thongs hanging out at 12. Omg stuff was crazy. Lmao

Haha, I remember those days . When I was in highschool, we had a pretty strict dress code, so seeing people outside of class in “regular” clothing was wild!
