LC Shawl-Along ~ Knitters & Crocheters Unite!

Oooh, very pretty! What yarn did you use?

I started a very simple Windy Morning Shawl today using Premier DK Colors yarn that’s been in the stash for who knows how long. Nearly done.

Might use a cake of Scheepjes Whirl that’s also been hanging around for a Dragon Belly. I find I am preferring the easy-repeat patterns more and more; no thinking necessary! :+1:

I agree…I am finding the repetitive patterns to be very relaxing…

Love both those pattern links…always looking for new shawls to make…also love the neutral colors as well

This one has been lingering in the Ravelry Faves for a long time:

Do you mind me asking where you buy your Whirl?

Oooh, neat! The Whirl will be nice in a simple pattern. It will show off the color gradient so well.

I get most of my blanket yarns from this place. I think their Stylecraft acrylic yarn is some of the best for these types of projects. They are reliable and shipping is reasonable…normally, you can get a huge bag of stuff for about $6 shipping. I also purchase fabrics from them…when I am not destashing, that is…my favorite yarn from them is Drops merino cotton…is it a dream to knit and I use it to make hats. They also have good sales if you get on their mailing list.

Sheepjes Whirl

This is a Turkish company…they used to specialize in novelty yarns and still have a lot, but recently, they have gone into the cakes. It is thinner yarn but still makes for a nice scarf or shawl. I have made three shawls using their cakes.

Thank you! I haven’t discovered Wool Warehouse yet (this could be detrimental to my current stash-busting success) but it is always nice to be in the know when you’re NEEDING new yarn.

I’m a big fan of ICE yarns too. There is skein upon skein of various, mostly novelty yarn in one of the bins in my closet…I should look for patterns using their odd stuff like their Ladder yarn. Or donate it.

I use them to send as extras to those I swap with in the altered arts, fabric journal or prayer flag swaps. A little baggy of mixed yarns for their use is always welcomed…they also make great ties for packages…

Oh, those are great ideas! Well, guess I ought to keep it then.

Thank you! Just good ol’ Scarfie in oxford/claret.

Love your Windy Morning, and wow such quick work for a day!

Easy repeats are borderline therapeutic, and I should make something besides a virus shawl sometime

Thanks for that; I might use the Scarfie that’s in the stash for a Dragon Wing. Yours is just beautiful.

Finally got a pic of the shawl I’m working on. It’s the Stormborn wrap. The only trouble is my store stopped selling this yarn! Also, I’m trying to stash bust so I do not want to buy more yarn. There’s three different yarns in here already and I’m going to check and see if I have just one more that can tie it together and finish it up…

It is really beautiful! I love the mix of greens with the tan and grey neutrals!

I hope you find something in your stash…it is so frustrating to be working on reducing stash and then having to go buy more to finish!

Omg those greens are stunning! Love that pattern too!

OMG, @Audania, that’s stunning! The colors are so vibrant. Crossing my fingers for you to find something to fit with it.

@Audania what yarn is this?

I believe it was loops and threads in a theme called facet stones. Thanks ladies!

How did I miss this shawl-a-long :flushed:

I’m working on my first shawl and it’s all from stash and want to make more so I’ll read through this thread to see what I need to do to join and then start participating.
