Little Ol' Guinea - Watercolor Painting

My latest 6" x 6" watercolor painting mounted on credleboard is this sweetie! It’s a baby guinea fowl. Probably the strangest animal I have ever kept yet full of personality.

I mount these and wax them after they are painted on watercolor paper. They’re ready to hang and don’t need to be behind glass as the wax protects them and makes the painting water resistant!

That chick is going to do things her own way! LOL! There is no telling them what to do.

How do you wax them? That sounds cool. Does it make them shiny? Your image looks matte.

No it doesn’t make them shiny. I have been asked by artists here how I make them matte instead of shiny so I guess there are other waxing techniques that are shiny. I just use Jacquard wax and rub it in and let it dry. I do two layers of it. I have a really bad video on my YouTube of me demo-ing my technique that I need to make a better version of… I am mamarhi on YT if anyone is interested in watching the video. There might be swearing in it.

So adorable! I’m always impressed by anyone who can paint a recognizable image. I’m great with blobs

Thank you! Blobs also have merit. Paint away.
