Little Raindrop Monster

I painted this little guy at this week’s Sunday meeting of “The Fun Club of the Fun Things and the Fun”*.
He started out as a pencil drawing, and then I stared at the watercolors for a while to decide if he is water or fire.
I used watercolors and a fine-liner black pen.
He is slightly inspired by Andrea Gomoll’s class from Mastering Mixed Media Expo.
I might go back and add some gold ink to his necklace and maybe some delicate sparkles in the background. My friend has a wonderful gold ink that I totally fell in love with. You can see a bit of it on the top border of the paper, it was already on the paper when I started, probably a leftover from a different project.

  • The club is crafting group/space that an artist friend of mine started, when she felt she needed more fun and judgement free creation time in her life. She thought that if she felt that way, then others probably do too, and she was right. She provides the space and the materials, as well as guidance and reference material if requested, we just have to come and create. Each meeting she gives a theme, and this one was monsters, which was perfect because I wanted to finally make something for Monster Jam.

It started out in creative space in a cool second hand store that were sharing their space with local people to promote local businesses, back in February. But, the local situation got a bit crazy so she moved it to her house. And then we found out that it’s easier there, because she doesn’t have to decide what to bring over to the store each time and to carry it all back and forth from the car. It is so much fun. I made some new friends there, and it’s great to see all the different styles and projects everyone is working on (sort of like the snapshot thread we have here :star_struck: ).
