Local Fauna ATCs

Here are some recent watercolor ATCs I’ve painted, just for fun!

First, some endemic birds…
'apapane:

and O’ahu 'ō’ō

a non-native bird, (although there is some evidence that a lot of our wild chickens are descended from junglefowl brought by early settlers from Polynesia) :

An endemic arachnid, commonly known as the “Happyface spider” (even though that’s actually its butt) :
(blurred because it’s a spider, but he’s yellow and has a smile on his bottom)

and a couple leafhoppers endemic to O’ahu:
(also blurring because they’re insects, but my illustrations aren’t super detailed)

and a bonus view of Mokoli’i (island) and the Ko’olau mountains:

Leave it to you to pain a spider that doesn’t terrify me lol

I especially love the birds!

I recently decided that my three kids, if they were birds, would be an African Parrot, a seagull, and a northern mockingjay. Sorry this is definitely off topic

Yeek! So sorry, I didn’t even think of putting spoiler blurs on the bugs, but I might go back and do that, just in case!

It didn’t scare me, I know others are not spider fans though. Usually I’m not a fan lol

Great art! I’m still trying to figure out watercolors- these would be crazy challenging for me.
