Made my own loom heddle board

I’ve been using a bead loom to make simple weavings, sending a long doll-eye needle over and under, over and under, weaving yarn and string. I’ve seen heddle boards to help move every other string up or down but wanted to try making my own at the woodshop. (Side note, the local tool library is awesome and has workshop space I get to enjoy as part of my membership.). Using a scrap of thin plywood, I drilled holes every quarter inch and then used the band saw to cut the slots an eighth of an inch away. Still needs some sanding but I’ll try it soon and let you know how it works out!

Ooh, that is SO COOL! I have such envy about your tool library. Ours closed down, I miss it.

Now I understand why store bought heddle boards have enclosed slots! The strings slip out of those slots and go all over the place! I’m going to put a stopper along that open edge and try again tomorrow (binder clips and something channel-y, we’ll see).
