I chose Matilda (one of my friend’s favorites) and found an image of the cover art, cropped and altered and printed on printable fabric (I had a few ancient pieces still kicking around).
I put a quote on the back with HTV. It’s hard to read in this photo (but isn’t so harsh on the eyes irl). Black probably would’ve shown better but would have looked awkward given the colors of the bag.
This is beyond cool! As a book lover myself, I adore it. I have seen that quilt block pattern before and wanted to try it, but I am not confident to do it. Is it hard? It looks hard! Everything looks so perfect! Lucky friend.
I don’t think it’s particularly difficult . It just has straight edge seams and diagonals (you can draw the line on if you need it). I didn’t even read the instructions. Just looked at the diagrams.
The instructions clearly define which pieces are which to cut (so you can figure out which fabrics you want to use for which part).
I added strips to the top and bottom, and then sides and bottom for the bag. Otherwise, the block ends at the right at the top of the book and there’s just a small strip at the bottom.
I LOVE this bag! It’s beautiful. I love the paper piecing (wait is that what is called??? Lol) and the colors and the fact that you put that quote there. I adore Matilda.
