This is for a competition for our local medieval reenactment group. You enter a blank scroll, and all the entries get donated to the barony for future use
This is inspired from a combination of sources. English and French 15th century book of hours. And mermaids (sirens) from a medieval bestiary. In medieval bestiaries, the siren held deep moral significance as a symbol of worldly temptation, vanity, and the deceptive perils of the flesh that lead un-vigilant souls to spiritual ruin. You can often see them carved into churches, they are often shown with a comb and a mirror
But for the main image,I wanted them luring innocent sailors. I particularly love the shape of the boobs. This was clearly painted by a man who had never seen boobs.
Oh. Em Gee.
I would pay to watch you work. Even more to take instruction from you. This is GLORIOUS! Teh b00bies! I Die! lol, amazing. Amazing. And you’re just giving it away? Unreal. I’d be hoarding this forever.
MAGNIFICENT! You really captured the scale of the Medieval borders and of course the imagry. I, too, am gobsmacked that you’re just giving it away, but also impressed. This group is a community and this kind of giving is what maintains community ties.
So damn stunning! The colors look vibrant and creamy, practically leaping off the page. You have the perfect mix of complex and delicate in the design. I could stare at it for hours admiring all the details.
