Merry Grinch-mass Blouse: Holiday Spectacular Entry 2025

This one took me a day to lay out—the fabric doesn’t have an easily discernible repeat.

The second day I fiddled with the rick-rack striped fabric working out the pleated neck trim.

The third day I started sewing, and the fourth day I finished it. The pleated neckline and front placket took more time than the rest of the sewing, I think.

Fabric is Robert Kaufman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
The trim fabric came from Joann.

Pattern: New Look 6374.

This pattern has panels on the front below the shoulder. I used them as little frames for characters.

I borrowed from another pattern to create long sleeves with button cuffs.

It turned out quite lovely! I didn’t realize the trim was actually fabric! Pleating it makes it even more unique!

That pleating adds the perfect detail and pulls the whole shirt together. Lovely work!

Amazing. I seriously hope all these creations are being kept for posterity somewhere when you retire them from your wearables.

I’ve always been in awe of your fabric matching skills, now you pleat rick-rack and nail that, wow!

WOW! This is a WONDERFUL way to utilize that ric rac stripe! And those pleats! The body print is so fun and festive and I like that it takes just an extra beat to recognize this as a Christmas shirt.

@TheMistressT It’s giving me fiesta vibes, a bit.
These were my inspiration pictures.

Your blouse is so fun and festive! Your sewing is, as always, impeccable. The rickrack fabric really complements the Grinch print.

This– I’m fascinated by a fabric made to look like rows of rickrack!
