Finished the disobedient linen star top this morning (see the lounge for updates) and this message popped into my head.
Years ago a colleague talked me down from flipping a table and walking out and imparted this bit of wisdom to me. He may have been talking about my imposed expectations of people, but it applies across a pretty broad swathe of life.
But in this specific instance. When I was livid about a seriously useless coworker and ranting it was actually soothing. I couldn’t understand why I expected my colleagues to all be at least as capable as I was, and the response was essentially I was seriously more competent and in order to get thru work I had to lower my expectations of the Muppets I worked with.
