I forgot to say the letter was an about-geekgirl matchup quiz that I aced. I was really proud of that until I started thinking about how potentially creepy it is to know that much about someone I’ve never met IRL
.
Love!!
I think it’s optional to show the about me page ![]()
I recd from our crafty pal @LindyBlues !
She did a trio of atcs from where she lives in Canada. Very cool, interesting and nicely illustrated detailed cards. Beautiful work!

This lovely castle-looking building is a medium security prison. Who would have thought! Really lovely lines and landscape.
An ominous looking haunted tour guide at a historic Fort. How mysterious does that guide look?! The atmosphere and look on the guides face really conveys the feeling of mystery and wonder.
And finally her favorite sculpture on the shores of Lake Ontario - it’s called ‘TIME’ and legend has it that over time (eons most likely) the slabs will meet up. What a cool piece!
And the fun little ephemera and extras. My favorite is the little About Me note. Very interesting and fun to learn about you Mariana.
Thank you! Very interesting and thoughtful pieces. Thank you for sharing your hometown.
Those are really cool @LindyBlues ! You got a lot of detail onto those cards. The subjects are cool too. I am going to look up that Time sculpture!
Cool cards, @LindyBlues!
I’m so glad you liked them! I really enjoyed making these, especially the prison one. I always joke about that prison when I pass it—it’s actually fairly close to where I live. I call it Disneyland, lol. You know you live in an interesting city when tourists make a point to take a photo in front a prison ![]()
Oh, you can also tour a prison here. The maximum security prison became a tourist attraction after it was decommissioned (not sure if that’s the proper term for a prison that no longer holds inmates). Here’s more info from their website if anyone is curious: https://www.kingstonpentour.com/
I couldn’t get that tour’s face right because the marker was too big for her face, but I suppose the effect fit the theme, lol!
Kingston is my “hometown” by choice, but my husband was born and raised here. It’s been interesting to learn things that even he didn’t know about the city over the years
I enjoyed sharing the info with you ![]()
Thank you @Bunny1kenobi and @gozer!
@gozer, interesting fact about the “Time” sculpture. There’s been a rumour going around for decades about these pieces eventually touching, with even a tour guide this past weekend telling visitors that the artist said they were meant to eventually touch. But if you look deeply into the actual history, the artist never said this, and it’s just a rumour someone started that then caught fire all over the city and so many people believe it now. And all this before social media (or even mass emailing) was a thing ![]()
Having said all that, the really cool thing about this sculpture is that it looks as if the slabs are touching each other, depending on the angle you’re observing it from. Several times during the day, its shadows touch as well. It’s a really cool concept and I could stare at it for hours ![]()
Great cards, @LindyBlues! I absolutely love the local interest. That slab sculpture card looks as cool as the monument sounds.
