I created these three for the Tea For Two swap. I wanted to make something fun and playful and packed with tea bits and bobs in subtle and ridiculous ways.
Process Pics (prepare for pic spam)
I began with several brewed tea bags, dried, and emptied them befor glueing them to 4x6 mixed media paper.
I am IN LOVE with that texture and plan on making some more pieces where that goegeous base gets to shine. In these paintings they got lost in the layers but are still a foundational part of the process.
Next I added things like the tea packet sections, tags, vintage tea ads, etc.
I knocked back those layers with gel medium and watered down gesso.
Then it was time for color. I focused on warm browns using watercolor, acrylic ink, Distress sprays, and neocolors.
For the focal images, I drew some tea doodles on dictionary pages, colored them with watercolor pencil, and then activated the color with the barest brush of water.
I added sentiments with liner pen, then highlighted the text and added detail with white ink and a dip pen.
I wound up with two partners for the swap, rather than three, so the Fueled By Tea piece will end up in STS. The other two live with @Immaculata and @Silky_Bee respectively.
