The year of the snake is drawing to an end. Snakes often represent transformation and healing. Magpies represent adaptability and luck. And well I had some of that this past year.
I often quilt my way thru, challenging times. And this one was created while struggling with decisions about work. And self esteem issues arising from work.
I’m pretty good at quilting. And some people I love, like me. It’ll be ok.
All of the fabrics in the beauty blocks have a sparkle or glitter or metallic shine… And I pieced 2 strips of sparkly teal along the binding to give that real magpie vibe.
But. It’s time now, mother nature, stop with the snow.
Also. It’s upside down. But it’s -26 and I’m not going back outside
OH, I love this so much! I am drawn to snake imagery and this interpretation is entrancing. The black/white/grey color scheme really helps the snake’s construction be the star. I think a lot of people can find making therapeutic, but this seems like making it could have also been a catharsis.
