Monster Cookies & Pinwheels: Halloween Treats

I make cookies for work for various holidays (having to cut back to only Halloween and Christmas because I just can’t afford to spend as much money as it takes to make treat bags for 90 staff). There are a base of a double chocolate chip cookie recipe. And I lucked out and found the Halloween version of the Funfetti Cookie sprinkle/candies. Stores put out stuff min 3 months before a holiday and usually it’s all gone when I start to think about making treats for the holiday a mere couple of weeks beforehand (so frustrating!). I just mixed them in for the first batch I made (so those were reserved as ugly extras). The instructions of the sprinkles/candy package says to roll the cookie in them (duh!) so they turned out really cute. Just added a couple eyes to make them into creatures!

My other go-to cookies are the Better Homes & Garden’s sugar cookie recipe (from 1990s editions; the new editions have tweaked the recipe and it’s not nearly as good). I already spent over 6 hours total in the kitchen making these 250 cookies, and I definitely don’t have time to do traditional cut-outs, so “Pinwheel” style are what I opt for (also I like the look of them). The purple & green are just sugar cookie. But the orange and black are orange-flavored and chocolate dough.

I don’t like all the plastic waste, but it’s best for a grab-and-go treat for the staff where I work (also minimizes the spread of germs from lots of hands in the container of cookies). I also give them to our delivery people, my neighbors, my parents, etc.

They seemed to like them, because the bowl was empty when I came back into work on Monday!

I bet they were gone! Who wouldn’t want such cool and tasty holiday treats!

I love the pinwheel ones. I think that is a good choice when you have so many to do!

These look so yummy! Great idea to package them for easy grabbing (although I feel you on the plastic waste).
