I made these for @Rlynn for the Santa sack swap. :purple_heart: I’ve been running ragged so I haven’t had a chance to post them yet.

I was originally thinking of getting real bugs and mounting them, but I didn’t trust myself not to break the beetles while positioning them.

Eventually thought of origami as a fun alternative. :purple_heart: I really enjoyed how they turned out! My hubby actually helped me make them, as I’m not good at origami in general. But we chose some easier ones and he was able to explain the tricky parts to me.

Painting the wooden pieces was oddly satisfying. I dry brushed some gold to get some more oomph.

I think this would be really fun with other origami too so I may try that in the future.

I found videos tutorials on YouTube for the ones I used.

Finding origami bugs was a bit difficult. There were some really cool ones, but they were out of my ability.
